FFA Code of Conduct
The Touring Club of Akureyri is an outdoor enthusiasts' association that wants to promote exercise and travel. The association has set itself the following code of conduct that applies to everyone who works for the association, whether in paid or voluntary work, as well as to those who participate in trips organized by the association or otherwise use its services.
- The travel company prides itself on responsible tourism and demonstrates responsibility towards Icelandic nature, the environment and society.
- The travel company shows respect, consideration and kindness to everyone who participates in its work or otherwise uses its services, regardless of gender, sexual orientation, origin, culture, religion, age, social status, physical ability or anything else that creates diversity in human society.
- The travel company emphasizes that violence, bullying, harassment, slander and exclusion do not occur in its work.
- The work of the Travel Agency is conducted in a manner that respects confidentiality and privacy, but within the limits of the statutory reporting obligation.
- The travel company is guided by professionalism, honesty and fairness in all communications and services.
- The travel company strives to ensure that all information, for example on its website or on social media, is accurate and gives a true picture of services and facilities.
- The travel company has written procedures for handling complaints and ensures responses in accordance with them.
- The travel company ensures that employees receive appropriate training and education and have good working conditions.
- The travel company strives to ensure the safety of those who participate in its work or otherwise utilize its services, through professional practices, good facilities, and approved equipment.
- The travel company demonstrates in practice that everyone feels welcome to work for it and emphasizes independence/initiative, responsibility and fair division of labor within committees.
- The travel company emphasizes that everyone has the opportunity to express ideas about the company's work, can trust that they will be discussed and that they will be informed of their fate.
- The travel company celebrates what is done well, strives to criticize constructively, and utilizes everyone's strengths.
Complaints or suggestions about possible violations of FFA rules:
- A complaint must be submitted in writing to the board.
- All complaints or suggestions are answered.
- After notification is made, the FFA board shall make an impartial assessment of the matter or attempt to bring the matter to a conclusion if the parties to the case agree that it can be concluded in this way.
- If this is not possible, a professional with whom the parties are satisfied should be sought.
- When assessing the circumstances, it must be ensured that the parties to the case and others who may be involved in the case are given the opportunity to present their views.
- When handling a case, caution and discretion must be exercised in all actions, with respect, confidentiality and the privacy of all parties to the case in mind.
- If the nature of the matter is such that there is reason to ensure that the parties do not work together, the FFA board shall ensure that this is the case.
- If anyone on the board is a party to the matter or has an interest to protect, that person shall step down from the board while the matter is being resolved and a substitute shall take his place.
- Cases shall be processed as quickly as possible. As a general rule, no more than four weeks shall elapse from the time a complaint is received by the Board until it informs the parties of its decision on how the case will be concluded.
- If the parties do not agree with the board's decision, they have four weeks to object to it.
