FFA Strategy
The FFA board decided at its meeting on January 15, 2018, to begin work on the association's strategic planning with the goal of strengthening the association's internal work. The board was joined by Rúnar Sigþórsson, a professor at the University of Iceland, who is very experienced in strategic planning and is a member of FFA.
The first step in the strategy work was for committees and groups within the company to conduct analysis for their own committee or group. An analysis model was used for this. In the analysis model, the committee/group examined, among other things, the committee's tasks, the role of each person within the committee, strong aspects of the committee's work, and opportunities that committee members saw. In addition, the groups were able to present other ideas, ideas that would be useful to other committees or the company, changed emphases, or other things. The goal was to complete this work by March 9, which was successful. By then, 37 people had contributed to this work, and some contributed additional analyses.
From that work came twelve subject categories. Several parties then met and worked out final ideas from these elements, i.e. to find ways and continue with that work. All the models were reviewed and a document prepared for all committees. The number of key elements was reduced to six.
On May 28, 2018, an open presentation meeting was held on the strategic planning work. The meeting was attended by 40 people both inside and outside the company. This work was presented there, as well as the six key elements that will be included on the website. Goals and methods have been set for them, and who is responsible for each element and to develop them further. It is then the role of the board and the subsequent company meetings to implement them.
In October 2018, all committees had received documents with ideas and comments from the policy development process. The committees then worked on the documents until February 2019, when they returned them to the board, which took stock of the work before the general meeting in March. The strategy was then approved at the general meeting in March 2019.
